Salvation Testimony
Shaun: Around November of 2004, I was invited to a church where I learned that I needed a relationship with Jesus Christ. I called on the Lord and asked Him to save me. Once I studied my Bible and came to an assurance of my salvation, life has never been the same. God led me to a fundamental Baptist church where they both believe and teach the Bible, and I have never looked back. The Bible is our only sourcebook of truth. We have nothing else to go by. Believers believe it all!
Lily: February of 1998
Date Baptized: Shaun was baptized on April 2, 2006, and Lily was baptized on August 27 of the same year.
Who invited you to attend NVBC?
Shaun heard about NVBC at a church he used to attend in another city, and he brought his wife to NVBC.
What does our church mean to you?
Shaun: It means that I have a great church home where my family and I can grow. I also appreciate being a part of a congregation that I believe is doctrinally and theologically sound. I could not be a part of a church that I believe to be unscriptural.
Lily: I have a safe place for my family to worship, grow in God’s Word, and fellowship with other believers.
Sunday School Class: New Life Couples Class / Brad Boruff – Teacher
Anniversary: January 20, 2007
Children: Christopher Ryan, 7 months
Favorite Bible Verse:
Shaun: I have many, but Galatians 1:10 seems to be the one that I quote the most and has been such a help to me. “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.” We are called to follow Jesus Christ. Early in my Christian life, I had to choose to follow God instead of the teachings of men. I have reaped so many blessings in my life for continuing to follow and serve God and not man.
Lily: Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
Hometown: We are both from San Jose, California.
Favorite Church Song
Shaun: Again, I have many; but I especially like “There’s Just Something About That Name” and “Saved by the Blood.”
Lily: “How Great Thou Art”
