Date Saved: Winter of 1993

Salvation Testimony: I was in my 2nd year of college and one of my classmates was saved and openly reading the Bible during breaks. I was curious and asked him what the Bible specifically said about how to go to heaven when you die. He told me to just believe in Jesus. Then he showed me Bible verses about how Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. I purposed two things--one was to be careful and not do anything risky to keep me from getting killed, and the second was that there must be a way out. After about two months, with this in my mind, my sister, who is saved, invited one of her friends over for dinner. The friend asked me if I wanted to know anything from the Bible. I said “yes.” She turned to John 3:16 and had me read it out loud. I became very emotional as I was reading and understanding that God, Who knows every evil thing I have done, still loves me so much that He gave His most precious Son to die for me so I can go to heaven. A massive weight was lifted off of me. What a joy to know that I am saved!

What does our church mean to you?

It is rare these days to find a church that doesn’t compromise truth but still takes a stand for God’s Word. Music is more important than people think, and it is a great blessing to find a church that believes in hymns, spiritual songs and modest apparel. God speaks to me through the preaching of Pastor Trieber. North Valley Baptist Church is a lighthouse for me.
