Opening Day, September 2nd
On September 2nd, the campus of Golden State Baptist College will be a beehive of activity. The new freshmen will be moving into the dorms for the first time along with returning students who have been gone for the summer.
In the next few days, all of our students must work hard, save, and prepare to move into the dorms and begin classes. In the next few days, all of our students must work hard, save, and prepare to move into the dorms and begin classes. Finances are often an area of great difficulty for college students, but this can be avoided. You may begin now searching for jobs online. If you have questions about jobs, please contact Brother Isaac Davis at idavis@gsbc.edu.
Having a steady source of income is only half of the battle. You will want to figure out how much money you will need to start college so you will be prepared financially. Remember to add some cushion for books, incidentals for your dorm room, and for the time period in which you will be looking for a new job when you get to school.
Make a list of what you will need. Now is the time to check your wardrobe. Will you need to buy some new clothes? Perhaps you have been sharing a hair dryer with a sibling, so you will need to buy one of your own to take with you. Do you plan to bring a computer to school? A computer is not a necessity because of the availability of the computer lab, but if you plan to have one in school, you need to purchase it now and get it set up with the programs you will need.
Of course, there are many other things that could be mentioned, but the main point is that you need to prepare now because there is just a short time before classes begin. If you have questions about getting ready for college, please contact our office.
