“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38).

It is harvest time right now in America, and many of the crops are brought in nowadays with modern machinery. A few items of produce are still harvested by hand, but even in those cases, hundreds of extra workers are needed to bring in the crops.

Jesus said that His harvest is plenteous, but there are not enough laborers. At Golden State Baptist College, we are working to produce more laborers for God’s harvest field. I am so thankful for the hundreds of graduates that we have serving around the world. I am very excited about the students who are right now studying for the ministry at GSBC. I see them in classes, in chapel, and in church diligently preparing for the next step that God has for them.

Though I am thrilled about what God is doing, I understand the charge of our Saviour that we must pray for more laborers. I sense the pathos in His voice as I read this passage. There must be more laborers.

Are you working in the harvest? Are you praying for more laborers to join us? “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:38).
