Day 8 - Manila and Home
Tuesday, October 7, 2008
We checked out of the hotel this morning at 9:00 a.m. and headed to the airport. Bro. Martin was at the hotel to see us off. Bro. Martin made our group feel at home the entire time we were here.

We arrived in Manila at 12:30 p.m. and immediately boarded a shuttle van to do some shopping. The van was arranged for us by Tony Mercado, a member of NVBC. Thank you very much, Tony.

We shopped in a place called Greenhills and found some great gifts to bring back home. The prices on the merchandise were not set, so our group had to bargain for the best prices. The ladies seemed to have a knack for getting the prices down. We stayed in Greenhills for about 2 and a half hours then headed to SM (a major store chain in the Philippines) for a quick stop to shop for some more gifts to bring home.

After the shopping, we went to Rene Baltazar’s house where we were greeted by relatives and served homemade meals. It was a wonderful meal, and each one in our group had plenty to eat. Our group was touched with the hospitality that was showed them.

Before boarding the shuttle to head back to the airport, Bro. Rene asked his relatives and friends that were in the house to gather together for a short Bible study. Bro. Apusen shared the Gospel with them, and nine of them were saved. One of the ones saved was Rene’s oldest sister. Another one saved was Sam Gomez’s brother-in-law who was in the house visiting the Gomez family. A high school friend of Rene whom he has not seen for many years was also in the house, and he along with his wife received Christ as their Savior. Our group could not have not have come up with a better way to conclude this trip than to present the Gospel and see people saved. Praise God for the many souls saved during this trip.

We headed back to the airport and boarded the plane around 9:45 p.m. Our group was exhausted and slept most of the way back to the States. We were greeted at the SFO airport by Ed Marczak, and he drove us back to the church property in one of the church shuttles.

Thank you for reading about our trip. Perhaps you can join us next year.
